Crystal Stairs supports Young Author’s Book on Early Literacy
Cotton Child offers teaching opportunities for Crystal Stairs parents and providers

Los Angeles, CA- On Saturday, April 4th, Crystal Stairs hosted a book reading and signing of Cotton Child. Cotton Child is authored by Tracy Brooks, a student, mother and young entrepreneur who is also a recipient of Crystal Stairs services.

The event was held outside Crystal Stairs’ Resource and Referral Department’s Resource Lending Library in Leimert Park. The courtyard patio was filled with dozens of children, parents and providers, who came out to hear the young author read from her book, talk about her experiences as a young parent and her inspiration for writing the book. After the reading, the children participated in an activity taken from some of the themes of the book.

As a parent who uses Crystal Stairs' services, Ms. Brooks understands the value of such financial support to parents and professional development support to child care providers. As a mother, she has learned one of the best gifts a parent can give to their child is quality time. Tracy will talk about her experiences as an author and supporter of child care quality and early literacy, read from her new book, host a child's activity and be available to sign books after the event.  A portion of the book proceeds will go to benefit Crystal Stairs' Lending Library. Light refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to the public.

The event was free, open to the public and part of an ongoing series of monthly community events sponsored by Crystal Stairs’ various departments.
